The International Federation of Environment Journalists (IFEJ) was established in December 1993 as an international organization for journalists specializing in environmental issues. As result of that, many challenges later the International Federation of Environmental Journalists (IFEJ) was changed to the World Federation of Intercultural and Environmental Journalists (WOFiEJ) though other challenges occur in 2020 when Covid 19 happened the name was changed again its third time to the International Network of Environmental Journalists (INEJ).

The INEJ is the first global organization for environmental journalists. Its goal is to foster communication between environmental journalists worldwide. INEJ’s mission includes networking, educating and training journalists, improving the free flow of accurate information, fighting censorship and supporting journalists who have been intimidated or harassed.
